Job Description:
Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant
(Client will accept either profession)
Job Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or physician assistant program
Minimum one year experience professional nursing or physician assistant experience in a clinic setting
Current Virginia State RN/NP/PA license
ANA certified if applicable
BLS/ACLS certified
Knowledge of professional nursing or physician assistant theory, practice and medical care to give and evaluate patient care; medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care; common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
Demonstrated experience in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care
Experience inpreparing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
Ability to maintain quality control standards; react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
Job Responsibilities:
Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients
Interpret and integrate data to determine therapeutic procedures as needed
Perform a complete physical exam and record findings
Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs
Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedure
Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plans
Administer medications and injections according to current applicable law
Educate patients and families as appropriate
Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information
Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation
Manages medical and surgical emergencies
Perform related work as required
Will work in Cardiac and Family Medicine Departments; when in Cardiac will be required to oversee treadmills and nuclear medicine studies
Pay and Benefits:
Base Salary ~ $83,000 - $90,000 (based on experience)
Benefits ~ FULL (will receive all the benefits offered to full-time employees on the first of the month following the completion of 90 days of employment)
CME of $1500 per year and one membership in a national Nurse Practitioner organization
Shift~ Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
